Up to date

It has been a while since I posted. I thought I gained weight this week but I actually lost 5.4 pounds! I am down to 172.6 from 190. I started working out a few weeks ago, but injured my neck/shoulder area. Whoever said No Pain No Gain is an idiot. From now on when I feel pain I am going to take that as the signal to stop working out. I was finally able to do a little lifting yesterday. My goal is to lose 3.4 pounds this week which will give me a 4th 5 pound star at Weight Watchers, put me under 170 and I will be at the 10% weight loss mark! Yay!

Yay! I started

I started Weight Watchers on Saturday.
My starting weight is 190.
I also bought a really neat Weight Bench because I know that I won't go to the Gym.
I have been staying on track the past few days.

5out of 5

Pros: Cooks Evenly, Good Flavor, Easy To Clean, Multi-purpose, Quick and Easy

Best Uses: Creative Meals, Side Dishes, Vegetables

Describe Yourself: Avid Cook

I have used it to make Rice, Hard Boiled Eggs, Sushi and Jook.
So far I have made Sushi Rice and Long Grain Rice and they have turned out perfectly. I like the fact that you can make as little as 1 Cup of Rice at a time. I tend to not eat leftovers so being able to cook such a small amount at a time will help me not waste food. The timer function is great on the machine as I can have rice ready to pack my lunch in the morning.
I made Jook using the recipe in the included recipe book. Today I Hardboiled 8 Eggs in it and they came out just right.
Even my husband wants to learn how to use this machine.
Clean up on the machine is super easy.

December 8th update.

Here is my picture taken on 12/8/2008. I will be starting Weight Watchers again on January 1st. But here is my before/before picture!

Here is an example of a lunch with Mr. Bento. and a few snacks. Not sure what the Weight Watchers points are on this particular lunch. It is pasta, grilled chicken breast strips, hummus and some ritz and the snacks are raisins, pecans and jelly bellies!

Its elementary! Scary Math.

I did some scary math a few month ago.
Conservatively I spend about $15.00 a day working downtown on Lunch and Coffee. Keep in mind that this is a conservative number.

I started working in Downtown Seattle 15 years ago. I am going to use the number 2000 for the number of hours that I work a week so some give and take for when I get sick or when I work a bunch of OT. For my equation I am going to say I work 260 days a year. I am being conservative when I say that I spend 15.00 a day on lunch and beverages. So in the 1st year I spent at the least 3900.00 on food. Multiply that times 15 years I have spent $58,500.00 on lunches and coffee.
I spend anywhere from 1-4 dollars a day packing my Bento. My co-workers kind of giggle when they hear me taking pictures of my lunch, but I know others will be joining soon! muhaha

Anime, Bento and Weight Watchers

At the end of December 2004 I joined Weight Watchers with the Goal of losing 40 pounds before my 40th Birthday which was on May 21st 2005. I accomplished that goal. I went from 205 pounds down to 165 pounds. Then I slowly quit going to the meetings and put a lot of the weight back on.

On my 41st Birthday my husband bought me a Playstation Portable for me to play games with on my train ride everyday. It was an instant hit! I have a few PSP buddies at work and one of them, Evans, told me that he enjoyed watching Anime on his PSP and then he gave me the first 60 episodes of Bleach and I was hooked! In the anime there is a lot of discussion of food! Yum. Since I already went to the large Japanese Asian Market Uwajimaya quite frequently for lunch and bubble Tea, I started searching out foods that they would eat in Anime such as Onigiri, Manju, Mochi, Dango, Pocky and of course Naruto's favorite Ramen. There is a Ramen shop outside of Uwajimaya called Samurai Noodle, and it is nothing like Top Ramen. The heavenly Pork Broth is simmered for 24 hours, they ask you how you would like your noodles cooked, soft, medium, Al Dente. They bring the bowl to your table with all of the toppings. Melt in your mouth Pork Slices, Wild Mushrooms, Green Onions, and there is Chili Sauce, Pickled Ginger and Sesame seeds at the Table. I always order the Samurai Bowl which has double the Pork and a Pickled Soy Sauce Egg. I have them omit the fermented Bamboo Shoots. This stuff is the bomb. Not good weight watchers food though. :)
In a few of the Animes that I watch specifically Blood+ They would eat their Bento Lunchs. So I googled Bento and was rewarded with an absolute overload of information. A lot of that information I plan on sharing with you my dear friends and readers! Just for fun go out to flickr.com and search the word Bento. Then Search the word Mr. Bento.
